Manama, London, and Riyadh – 11 March 2012: King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH) in Bahrain announced today that it has successfully deployed the first phase of a new Datix patient safety software for healthcare risk management solution.
Health Matrix, Datix’s local partner in the Middle East region, implemented the solution to deliver state-of-the-art technology supporting patient safety and reducing risk around patient care at KHUH. Datix is currently in use by more than 1,700 people across all hospital departments to capture and monitor clinical and non-clinical incidents and risks.
A spokesperson from KHUH said, “The estimated international figure of clinical Incidents, near miss, and adverse events that result in unnecessary harm, pain, and suffering and sometimes lead to death was the main trigger for KHUH top management decision to implement the risk management program. Therefore, Patient safety and risk management become very crucial elements that have been focused on and managed at KHUH from the early stages of the project phases. The journey with the implementation of the incident /near miss reporting and risk modules from Datix takes approximately six months from extensive work and efforts from the quality and patient safety directorate members at KHUH, Datix, and Health Matrix representatives. In addition, which made us proud of our decision that we are the first hospital in the GCC countries that launched this particular software from Health Matrix and become a reference hospital.
